How Do I Fill Pickle Barrel?

How Much Does Pickle Barrel Weigh?
Empty: 500 lbs – Full (with rock): Approx. 2,150 lbs (varies with moisture content)

Absolutely! The lid prevents rainwater from entering and compacting material. During extended freezing times, the material will freeze just like your stockpile. It’s suggested to keep in a non-freezing environment during freezing.
What Powers Pickle Barrel?
During the purchase process it needs to be specified what power supply you prefer. Currently, it can be 120V A.C., a Milwaukee or Makita 5 AMP 18V battery. 5 AMP, 18V is the limited max size at this time.
How Long Can I Expect a Battery to Last?
Depending on your battery’s condition, several weeks can be expected. The entire Pickle Barrel can be emptied in less than 1 minute if you don’t stop the flow to tamp.

Yes, industry W.L.L. tags are on the lifting cables and the W.L.L. is on the supplied lifting shackles.
What is the purpose of the tag line?
The tag line is used to control the inward swing of full Pickle Barrel to the pole after the pole is in the ground.
Does Pickle Barrel Come With a tag line?
No.
Your tagline is a part that needs inspected before every use, and when deemed needing replacement, it is immediately replaced. Your in-house safety committee standards need to be applied to inspect and determine rope replacement. Keeping in mind you’re holding 2,000 lbs weight, a good quality polyester or nylon rope with a new tensile strength rating of 10,000 lbs or higher.
How Long should my tag line be?
Depending on where your tagline anchor point is located and distance to the pole hole will determine this. Typically a 40’ rope should be ample for 95% of the jobs.
How is the tag line connected?
Using the knot of your choice, the rope is tied to the upper D-ring on the side of Pickle Barrel. The bowline knot is quick, easy to tie, will not come unhooked, and easily removed after it is against the pole.
How often do I need to replace the tag line?
Dirt, contamination and your anchor point size will all affect the life of your rope. Inspect the rope before every use and replace it when deemed necessary. When in doubt, throw it out!
What is the lower D-ring for?
This ring is used to move the barrel into position for removal if it is difficult to reach setting in a trailer or pickup. It can also be used to turn the unit upside down should the need arise to do so after laying the unit on its side.
Why is the material not flowing when I open the door?
First, confirm the battery voltage and that the shaker motor is working. If your crushed rock is highly contaminated with dirt, there’s a chance it’ll stick and not flow. If there’s a buildup of dirt, sand, and rock on the bottom, it will cause flow issues. A quick rinse with a hose will clean it out, and you’ll be back in business. Lastly, when starting the flow the first time each use, open the door all the way to get material flowing and then partially close the door to control flow.
What size pole will it fill?
When setting a Class II pole to utility standards of 10% plus 2 feet using a 20” auger, you can backfill a 45’ pole.
Does it have a warranty?
Yes, 1 year parts and labor. Contact us, ship it back, and we’ll repair it and ship it back to you.
Why is the door sticky?
Chances are it’s gotten some contamination in the slider tracks. When empty, lube sparingly and operate the door to distribute the lube evenly. A high quality moly lube is recommended.
How often should the door be lubed?
Sparingly, every 60 days unless conditions require more often.
